RATTLING CAGES

It's the little foxes that spoil the vines
Don't you find?
The little lies we sprinkle
That makes life less than simple
And brick by brick
They take apart
The wall we built to protect our heart from hate

The worst sins start out so minuscule
Manipulation is the tool of the thief
Not the lover
Lies smother truth
Resentment raised the roof
Love disappeared
Like poof

What a tangled web Mr weaver
When you practiced to deceive her
You deceived you instead
Lay in that hard bed
And pontificate
All the drama that you simulate
Rattling cages...

LOVE is the catalyst for change
whether it's self-love
Or love from another
Spouse child or mother
Family or friend
Love is where it all begins
Love gives us courage
Love gives us power
Love gives us wings
Love is the catalyst for all great things
So have a heart
And spread some love today...

 Reflections of a broken butterfly

Today was emotional for me. I watched two episodes of lie to me and they were both involving physical abuse, one rape and the other domestic violence involving a lover. I cried after both episodes and now I am writing. I feel sad, like I want to cry my eyes out and lay in bed watching cartoons, smoke weed and drink Hennessy all day with the shades drawn and the house dark, but those days are long gone. I've grown and evolved. Even if my eyes bleed for ten to thirty minutes max.
Why are my tears clear?
Why don't they show my distress, in some dark imposing color; like burgundy or black, just transparent, clear and innocent like they have no meaning, like the rain drops, clear and innocent, yet they can multiply into a flood drowning out every word I say?
I would have gladly saved my tears for moments of joy only tears could express, those were then scanty but now more bountiful.
I can only respect this moment, watch it past by me and dry my eyes refusal to cooperate with with my stiff upper lip and steeled composure. I've spent too much time looking  for closure, those days are over, that girl is gone, never to return or be the same. My pain it seem has polished me to a smooth shiny gem. I may tear for a moment and then, back to work again...

ME

She sits right outside me
Hovering
Watching
Guiding me
She teaches me to sing
When my eyes well up with tears
She soothes away my fears

Never far from me
We vibe on the same plane
She even gives me warning
When it's about to rain

It's my own fault if I don't listen
And make heavy my plight
Even so she's right here to help me
And coax me to the light
She's my conscience
My advisor
The god that lives inside her and without
She's everything I dream about
And aspire to be
Even though she's already
Me...

WRITERS CUE

My mind is equipped with a ready writer and a pen
Who told me dreams come true if you record them
So I started to take long walks in my mind
And write down what I find
Now the writer and I are in sync
All day long I write what she thinks
And beautiful words eloquently penned
Finds its way from my mind to my fingers then print
My only chore is to listen for the writers cue
Then instruct pen what to do
And write my life...

A book of poetry expressing the inner thoughts, feelings and emotions of a broken butterfly learning to fly again. I write poems that express how I feel in hopes of helping others to heal their broken wings, and to let them know someone out there can identify with their feelings.

THE CLIMB

It's time to stop circling the mountain
and make the climb
It's as simple as a shift in mind
Time to stop blaming them for your plight
Time to love yourself in-spite of your flaws
I know what they did
but you were the cause
Time to stop lying and using people
Stop hurting yourself
And do right by you

Relationships can get pretty stormy
Trying to fold them like origami
You can't fix everything with I'm sorry
Sometimes we suffer the worst
Decisions made on the spur
Continue to impact life long after conception
We must carefully weigh our decisions
Before they cause us division of the worst kind
Between the spiritual and mankind
One shouldn't be so blind they can't see
The only enemy they possess
Is in the heart they carry in their chest...
