what do i have to say?

I could tell my life story
I could recite some poetry
I could write you a song

I could mesmerize you 
with my storytelling skills
make you laugh or cry at will
Paint pictures that wisk you away
to another place or time
peek inside another culture
be colorblind
if only i was fictionally motivated
an inventor of stories
I would bless you
tempt you
stretch your mind
make you wonder
and after each act
I would only leave you fonder
if...

I could just write what comes to mind
anyplace and anytime
I could write a symphony
beautiful and transcendental
soothing and appealing
therapeutic and healing
if...

I am a writer
but what genre?
Am i just a false pretender?
Nay i say
I AM a poet
and i know it...
